I wrote a little piece for a hand cranked music box years ago and then promptly forgot about it. Near the end of the recording sessions for Fathoms, I found the music box with the composition & recorded it playing forwards then in reverse & then layered those. Then I started adding digital arrangements to accompany the music box melody. This version opening the album is just the digital arrangements that were added, without the music box composition they were written for.

It does a nice job setting the tone for an album that was basically a coping mechanism for an overwhelming year. When surrounded by the inky darkness & intense pressure, a pearl was found & brought to the surface.
